The USTA Adopt-A-Unit program offers support to our military overseas, and the USTA Southern's community tennis associations and NJTLs are leading the way in supporting this program!
The National Recreational Foundation, through USTA Serves, provided a grant to send portable tennis equipment to military units deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Tennis offers a great means of stress reduction and recreation that these service members need during this time of combat. In addition, the USTA has asked tennis groups, such as leagues, community tennis associations, tournaments, NJTLs, Jr. Team Tennis Leagues and any other willing tennis groups to adopt a unit and send care packages overseas.
See the list of groups that have already adopted a unit. We still have units waiting to be adopted, so if you are willing to coordinate a collection in your community, please register at
usta.com/military. This is a rewarding program that you will never forget.
