Rogers Trip To Family Circle Cup Very Short

Shelby Rogers has a short trip to the Family Circle Cup ... she lives on Daniel Island, the site of the tournament. But, the former ball person also had a short ride this year as a wild card.
 
Rogers, ranked No. 335 by the WTA Tour, lost to American Jill Craybas 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 in the first round Monday.
 
On Sunday, No. 1 Carolina Wozniacki of Denmark defeated Russian Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-3 for the singles title. Vesnina and Sania Mirza won the doubles crown with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy.

World No. 10 Marion Bartoli has officially entered the Family Circle Cup, and will make her seventh appearance in Charleston. Bartoli, who reached the finals at Indian Wells last week, adds to a stellar player field now highlighted by four Top 10 players, and other WTA standouts. She will join World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, World No. 5 Samantha Stosur, World No. 7 Jelena Jankovic, as well as Maria Sharapova (who decided not to play), Melanie Oudin and Nadia Petrova on Daniel Island. Marking the tournament’s 39th consecutive year, the Family Circle Cup is scheduled April 2-10, 2011 at the Family Circle Tennis Center in the Best Tennis Town in America, Charleston, SC.
 
The entire Family Circle Cup main draw player field is now set, and available at FamilyCircleCup.com. Other notable players include Yanina Wickmayer and Maria Kirilenko, both making their Cup debut, Charleston fan-favorite Patty Schnyder, US Fed Cup star and 2009 Family Circle Cup doubles champion Bethanie Mattek-Sands, and former World No. 4 Jelena Dokic.
 
 
With $721,000 in prize money on the line, more top players will be coming to Charleston, S.C. April 4-10. Also, Game, Set, Rock! Tennis. Amplified presented by Dove, an evening of music and tennis entertainment featuring John McEnroe, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, and Todd Martin, will be the featured event Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m.

The Family Circle Cup and InsideOut Sports + Entertainment announce the return of Game, Set, Rock! Tennis. McEnroe will defend his Game, Set, Rock! singles title during this tennis exhibition, which will feature singles and mixed doubles action. Tickets for this special night of tennis will be available as a stand-alone ticketed session beginning at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 via Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster Charge-by-Phone (800) 745-3000, local Publix outlets. Tickets will also be available after the public on-sale date at the Family Circle Tennis Center ticket office, weekdays, from Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm. Box Level seating will be available for $50, Terrace Level for $35, and Grandstand for $20.
