USTA Facility Assistance Program Awards Currituck County High School $30,000 Grant

Currituck County High School
In the past six years, The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has built more than 35,000 tennis courts across the country --- with the desire of providing any type of player the opportunity to enjoy the sport. Behind this growing number is the USTA Facility Assistance Program, which strives to provide communities access to safe, appealing, and functional tennis environments. Barbara Jones went to Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. on May 7-8. Jones was the only USTA representative from South Carolina that went on this exciting trip. The goal for the trip was to inform Capitol Hill of USTA and its benefits. On her trip, Jones, met former tennis professionals Chris Evert and Chanda Rubin. Tennis Championships Coming to Aiken

The USTA SC 18 and Over League State Championships are coming to Aiken. Nearly 100 teams comprised of over 1,000 players will be competing at sites across the area May 24-27. The Aiken area boasts seven teams in the championships. The teams are based out of Fermata Club, O’Dell Weeks Tennis Center, and Riverview Park. Read More

Top local 10 and Under players gathered at Family Circle Tennis Center on Daniel Island for a High Performance Camp hosted by the USTA South Carolina Player Development Committee. The camp was led by head coach Butch Staples, tennis pro of Bluffton, South Carolina.
