Mississippi Women Support Teammate's Sick Grandson

December 6, 2013 03:37 PM

By Geri Smith/65 & Over Mississippi Women’s 4.0

In Jackson, Miss., thousands will put on running shoes to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Center Saturday. The event is called Jingle Bell Jog.

The 4.0 women's 65 & Over and 55 & Over teams representing Mississippi are putting on their tennis shoes as part of the "Rally Without Racing" team participating in the event as team "Hope for Hunter.”

One of their teammates, Carolyn Galloway, has a special relationship with this event. Her 12-year-old grandson, Hunter Smith, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in April. He has fought such a valiant fight! At this time, Hunter is at home with his parents, Cissy and Michael Smith.

Family is Hunter's greatest love. We all hope to celebrate the life he has led and let the courage he exemplifies shine through us. We hope you will all join with us and raise your voice in this battle as we continue to HOPE for Hunter!
