Kubler Victorious in Player's Choice Open Final
Jason Kubler of Australia overwhelms qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan in the final round of the Players' Choice Open 6-3, 6-2.
 
Nishioka, after upsetting the No.1 seed, Devilder (FRA) in the semifinal round, could not keep the momentum rolling into the finals. Kubler, currently ranked 793 in the world, came out of the gate strong battling the quick feet Nishioka.
 
His victory awarded his 18 ATP tour points and will likely escalate his ranking close to 150 spots in the world.
 
 
No. 3 Doubles Seeds Ends Underdogs' Run

Sekou Bangoura and Evan King, the No. 3 seeded doubles team in the Players’ Choice Open, ended Mac Styslinger and Christian Harrison’s skillful fight in this USTA Pro Circuit event at Highland Park Tennis Center.

 

After knocking out the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, Styslinger and Harrison couldn't’t find their stride in the semifinals match, losing 6-1, 7-6(4). Bangoura and King will take on Andrei Daescu (ROU) and Milan Pokrajac (CAN) for a “doubles at dusk” match-up on Friday at 5 p.m.

 
 
Styslinger/Harrison Duo Dismantles No. 1 Doubles Seed in Third-set Thriller
– Mac Styslinger and Christian Harrison knock out No. 1 seeded doubles team Peter Aarts and Kamil Pajkowski in the quarterfinals round of the Players’ Choice Open at Highland Park Tennis Center.
 
After two tight sets, Styslinger and Harrison were able to defeat Aarts and Pajkowski 6-7(4), 6-4, [10-3]. They’re semi-finals round pits the duo against No. 3 seed Sekou Bangoura (USA) and Evan King (USA) Thursday, Oct. 27.
 
Southern Players Qualify
Three USTA Southern players have qualified for the main draw of the Players' Choice Open held in Birmingham, Ala. Mac Styslinger of Birmingham and Highland Park, Tennys Sandgren of Gallatin, Tenn. and Jordan Cox of Duluth, Ga. will all compete.

Highland Park Tennis Center, 3300 Highland Ave. South Birmingham, Ala. 35205, will host the Players’ Choice Open Oct. 21- Oct. 30. The men’s event will feature Jordan Cox of Duluth, Ga. and Tennys Sandgren of Gallatin, Tenn. and will be held outdoors on clay courts and feature singles main draw of 32, 128 in qualifying singles and doubles main draw of 16.
