Activities for the weekend included lodging and meals on the Jackson State University Campus and daily tennis instruction from the Jackson State University Head Tennis Coach, Niji Olebegi. Cultural activities in the city included trips to the Smith Robertson Museum & Cultural Center and the Russell C. Davis Planetarium, with special transportation courtesy of Captain Ron and the Fondren Express trolley. The campers also enjoyed many team-building and networking activities and heard presentations from a local attorney, a nutritionist and students attending Jackson State and Alabama A&M Universities.
The Regional NJTL Tennis Leadership Camp is a result of the continued success of the National NJTL Tennis Leadership camp, created in 1984. These camps are designed to provide an educational and motivational tennis experience for NJTL participants who could not afford such an opportunity. The goal of the regional TLC is to offer a larger number of NJTL participants a chance to be part of a life lasting tennis and social experience.
