Head/Tail Activewear USTA Pro Circuit Women's Tennis Tournament Back In Hilton Head Island

After a week of incredible tennis in Hilton Head, SC, the Head/Tail Activewear USTA Pro Circuit Women's Tennis Challenger tournament is complete. Top seeded Mueller, dominated her way through the field losing only fifteen games en route to winning the tournament. Mueller played exceptional tennis all week, capping it off with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the finals over the sixth seeded Bojana Bobusic.
 
The Southern players in the tournament had good results as well. In doubles, Atlanta native and former Georgia Tech star player, Amanda McDowell and her partner Macall Harkins won the title defeating the top seeded Jones and singles champion Mueller in the finals, 6-3, 6-3. The second seeded team of McDowell and Harkins dominated their competition throughout the tournament, not dropping a set in their run through the tournament.
 
In singles, McDowell also had a good tournament. As the fifth seeded player, she made it to the quarterfinals before falling the the future champion, Mueller, 6-2, 6-1. Hayley Carter also continued her outstanding play in her first round match upsetting the third seeded Megan Falcon. In one of the biggest upsets in the tournament, Carter defeated Falcon 6-4, 6-4
 
In Previous Action
The Main Draw for the Head/Tail Activewear USTA Pro Circuit Women's Tennis Challenger tourament is now set. In the final round of the qualifying, Georigia native Caroline Price advanced 6-2, 6-3 earning herself a spot in the Main Draw. Price will face Nika Kukharchuk of Russia in the first found.
 
Kaitlin Ray of Little Rock, Ark also made her way through the qualifying tournament. She defeated Josie Kuhlman 7-6(4), 1-6, 6-1 in order to gain a spot in the Main Draw of the tournament. She will face fellow American qualifier Kirsten Flower in the first round of the tournament.
 
 
The Head/Tail Activewear USTA Pro Circuit women's tennis tournament returns to Hiton Head Island this week for the second consecutive year. This year's tournament will feature defending champion Alexis King, who is carrying momentum after winning the Palmetto Open last week. Also in action is Hayley Carter, who recently as a qualifier made it to the semifinals of the Palmetto Open, before falling to King. Carter is set to face the 3rd seed Megan Falcom in the first round.
  
The tournament will be held at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center in Hilton Head, S.C. The Head/Tail Activewear Pro Circuit tournament is a 10k level tournament. There will two special events at the tournament. Tuesday May, 31 is a women's doubles clinic at 5:30 pm. On Saturday June, 4th there will also be a Kids Day from 9:30-11:00 am, which will feature 10 and Under Tennis, a nationwide program using Quickstart courts in order to help develop younger players. This will be a fun opportunity for kids for come out and play, before watching the days matches.
 
 
The first round of the Main Draw will continue tomorrow in Hilton Head.
