Erakovic Wins Pelham Challenger Singles

Melanie Oudin has signed up to play the Pelham Racquet Club Women's $25K Pro Circuit Challenger presented by The Rick and Bubba Show will run in metro Birmingham, Ala. March 28-April 3. Click here for an online map.
 
Finals Results
New Zealand's Marina Erakovic won the singles title with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Renata Voracova. Erakovic was ranked No.229 while Voracova was No. 92 and seeded third.
 
Top-seeded Liga Dekmeijere and Marie-Eve Pelletier won the doubles crown by beating Kimberly Couts and Heidi El Tabakh, the third seeds, 2-6, 6-4, 12-10. Couts and El Tabakh downed Julie Ditty, of Ashland, Ky., and her doubles partner, Christina Fusano, in the semifinals.
 
Previous Results
Oudin fell in her first match to American Ashley Weinhold 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. She was scheduled to play doubles with Christina McHale but lost to Ansley Cargill and Jessica Pegula in a walkover.
 
Julie Ditty, of Ashland, Ky., advanced to the quarterfinals with her doubles partner, Christina Fusano, by defeating Whitney Jones and Jennifer Elie 6-3, 7-6(6). Ditty won her first singles match but then lost to Alexandra Stevenson 6-2, 6-3.Daniel Island, S.C.'s Shelby Rogers also lost to Madison Brengle 6-3, 6-2.
 
Oudin, of Marietta, Ga., was No. 75 in the WTA Tour Rankings, as of March 21, making her the top seed. She will play doubles with Christina McHale; the team is the fourth seed.
 
"The Rick and Bubba Show" host Bubba Bussey is a former member of the USTA Southern Marketing Committee and a winner of the 2008 USTA Southern Marc Kaplan Media Excellence Award.
