David Hopkins
Well my US Open qualifier run came to an end tonight. I lost my match 6-3,6-1 to Maxx Lipman from University of Florida.
He is a good player and obviously played a great match. I was a little disappointed with myself as I didn’t lose because I played poorly but simply because I was not in tip top tennis shape.
As we all know, there is a major difference between being in tennis shape and regular shape. Due to the fact that I have not played a tennis tournament in over a year, it is safe to say that I was not in great tennis shape:-).
So, of course, playing in 90 degree weather for my third consecutive match, my legs gave out on me and made it very difficult to compete at the necessary level.
I am grateful for my experience though and just being able to win two singles matches is exciting for me! So now it is on to the Mixed Doubles draw where hopefully my partner and I can make some noise!!!
