Southern players and organizations are constantly making their mark in the world of tennis. Here's a list of recent awards, achievements and news in December 2010.
 
Garvin leads South with USTA awards
USTA Chairman of the Board and President Lucy Garvin has been chosen for the prestigious 2010 Barbara Williams Leadership Award. Garvin resides in Greer, S. C.
 
The 2010 USTA Family of the Year awards goes to the John Illges Family, Columbus, Ga.
 
The Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Award will be given to Molly O'Koniewski, of Hilton Head Island, S.C.
 
73 National positions filled
USTA Southern members will make a large impact on the USTA committees in the next two years. Southerns have been appointed to 73 USTA committee positions for 2011-12.
