The Summer 2010 City Championships for Men were held Saturday, August 22nd at Dekalb Tennis Center. The day started out a little rainy, but turned out to be a beautiful day for tennis! Congratulations to all the teams who made it to the City Championships. We look forward to seeing everyone in the winter! Facilities around Atlanta will be hosting various LIVE UNITED Community Events, gearing up for the 2009 LIVE UNITED Tennis Classic! Events at each facility will range from Mixed, tiny tots activities, to a parent/child round robin! The Summer 2010 City Championships for Weekday Women were held Thursday, August 6th at Dekalb Tennis Center. The day was filled with warm weather, amazing team spirit and exciting competitive play. 'Pistol Pete' Sampras and Todd Martin will headline the inaugural LIVE UNITED Tennis Classic on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the Atlanta Athletic Club. The registration deadline for the USTA Flex Leagues has been extended until November 3rd, with play to begin November 11th. We have combined facilities, and the facilities now open for registration are North Park Alpharetta, Terrell Mill Tennis Center, Roswell Area Park, South Fulton Tennis Center, Blackburn Tennis Center, and Rhodes Jordan Tennis Center. 2009 LMCTA Halloween Charity Fright Festival Tennis Tournament

The 2009 Lost Mountain Community Tennis Association Halloween Charity Fright Festival Tennis Tournament is scheduled for October 16-18, 2009, with Friday play beginning at 5:00pm. The event will be held at Lost Mountain Tennis Center. All players are wecome to the tournament, and a USTA membership is not required. Come out and help raise money for Lost Mountain Community Tennis Association and make a donation to Calvary Children's Home! On Saturday, October 17, from 6-8 pm all participants are invited to Aspen's for complimentary hors d'oevres and soft drinks with a cash bar offered. A raffle will be held at 7pm with various prizes. Don't miss this Frightfull Fun Event!

The Spring 2009 City Championships for the Super Senior 60+ Saturday Men were held this past Sunday, July 19th at the Country Club of Roswell. East Roswell Park took line 2 in 2 sets, with Marietta CC pulling it out in lines 1 and 3 in the tiebreak. It was a beautiful day for tennis! Congratulations to the Marietta CC team captained by Edmund Brooks, our new SS Men 3.5 City Champions!

The Super Senior 60's Wednesday Men's City Championships were held Wednesday, July 8th at Country Club of Roswell. The 3.5 teams put on a good match despite the gloomy weather overhead. East Roswell Park (Dave McAuley) defeated Harrison TC (Norman Kayton) after three close sets. Thanks to all those who played in the Super Senior Men's Wednesday league this spring. We look forward to seeing you next season!

The Super Senior 60 Women's City Finals were held June 30th at Dekalb Tennis Center. The 3.0 and 3.5 division levels crowned new city champions for the Spring 2009 season. Notably, in the 3.0 division, the sixth seed Eastside AC (captained by Anne Woodman) team beat the fifth seed Sharon Springs (captained by Sharon Thomas) in a hard fought match that came down to the line three doubles 10-point super tie break set. In the 3.5 division, the number two seeded RCS (captained by Marilyn Williams) beat the number one seed Harrison TC (captained by Luwayne Johnson). Congratulations to all the teams for making it to the finals!

The USTA announced that the Atlanta Youth Tennis Foundation has been awarded an inaugural Program/Project Support Grant. The grant, in the amount of $5,000, is one of 46 grants awarded by the USTA. The grants are designed to support community based organizations who are seeking funding to support thier general tennis programming, project and equipment needs. The organizations that were selected met the following criteria: increasing tennis participation, supporting tennis programming and fostering diversity with both participation and programming.

The Spring 2009 Senior Men's City Finals were held at Country Club of Roswell on Sunday, May 3rd. Fortunately, the weather held out long enough for everyone to complete their matches. The 3.5's and 4.0's took to the courts to determine who would be crowned the Spring 2009 Senior Men's City Champion. Larry Cade's 3.5 Roswell Park team won their match against Lanny Tribble's Central Park team while Terry McCain's 4.0 Terrell Mill team beat out Neil Paauwe's Sandy Springs team to become city champions.
