Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation

The Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation (STPF) is the charitable arm of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Southern Section.  The foundation offers grant assistance to junior players,

tournaments, and other worthy organizations that work to fulfill the USTA mission, "to promote and develop the growth of tennis."  The STPF has a fifteen member Board of Trustees that evaluates applications and grants financial support.  This includes providing Camp and Educational Scholarships.

Your support goes to assist junior players based on need for tournaments, camps, and educational scholarships.  Over the past 35 years, the Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation has provided grants to worthy organizations such as Special Olympics Southeast Region, Adopt-A-Court, and other Matching Grants.

The Foundation holds a fundraising Gala during the USTA Southern Section Annual Meeting that provides delicious food, fabulous music, and an enjoyable environment for Donors and Section Volunteers.  Past fundraising events have featured a silent and live auction as well as a casino party.

You are invited to become a partner with the Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation.  Sponsorship opportunities can be customized to include scholarships, grants, awards, etc.  Additionally, tax deductible donations to the Foundation can be incorporated into any USTA Southern Section sponsorship package.

Making a Donation
All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible (501(c)3).  The Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation also accepts individual donations and recognizes those in the following categories: $100, $250, $500, and $1000.

If you would like to make a donation please download our donation form.Note:  Adobe Acrobat Readeris required to view this file.

Non-Cash Donations
There are many ways to give: by check, with appreciated securities, and by life-income arrangements such as charitable gift annuities or charitable remainder trusts. If you would like to make a gift of stock, locking in the value while avoiding tax on capital gain, there are two ways:

Wire Transfer:
Your bank or broker may transfer stock to the Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation's account at Wachovia Securities (account #7718-6938, DTC #0141). It is very important that your bank or broker contact Wachovia Discount Brokerage at (800) 326-4434 with details of the gift to include name of stock and number of shares. Your bank or broker should not sell the assets on your behalf or you will be liable for the tax on capital gain -- unless the stock has depreciated in value since you purchased it. Then, you can sell the stock, make a gift of the proceeds, report the loss on your tax return adn get an income tax charitable deduction for the value of your gift.

Physical Transfer:
If you hold certificates, do not sign or fill them in. Instead, obtain and sign stock powers and have your signature medallion guaranteed by a bank officer. Please have available the stock powers and letter of transmittal. Contact Winky Olson at the Southern Office (770-368-8200) for mailing instructions for Wachovia Discount Brokerage.

The Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation appreciates your support and we hope you will consider the Foundation in your charitable giving.

General questions or requests for further information can be directed to Winky Olson at (770) 368-8200.
