USTA Southern Announces First 10 and Under Tennis Facility Winners

USTA Southern is proud to introduce the 10 and Under Tennis Facility of the Month Award.
This award recognizes one facility a month from each of our nine states. These facilities have done an outstanding job with their 10 and Under Tennis programming by offering Jr. Team Tennis, tournaments, Play Days and modified equipment and courts for 10 and Under Tennis. One facility per state will be honored each month.
The winning facilities for March are…
Hoover Country Club
Boo Mason, Tennis Director
HCC was one of the first facilities in Alabama to embrace 10 and Under Tennis. They offer 10 and Under Tennis tournaments and field Jr. Team Tennis teams each season. The Club has hosted 10 and Under Tennis training sessions and will host Play Days in 2012.
Creekmore Tennis Center
Fort Smith
Melissa Kelly, Director of Tennis
Creekmore, led by USTA Arkansas Pro of the Year Melissa Kelly, has done a great job with their 10 and Under Tennis program. They have four courts with blended lines which are perfect for the JTT leagues hosted at Creekmore. CTC has hosted an after school program for the last 4 years which serves as a model for others across the state and section.

Windward Lake Club
Dave Power, President
Windward Lake Club has 120 kids in their 10 and Under Tennis program. 10 of their 20 courts have blended lines and four 36’ courts are lined in the parking lot. Windward is in the process of building Play Days into their instructional programs and also forming 10 and Under travel teams to attend tournaments. They hope to build their program to 300 kids in the near future.
Lexington Tennis Club
Don Carbone, Director of Tennis
Lexington Tennis Club offers 10U JTT and various instructional programs. With blended lines on eight courts, there is plenty of room for 10 and Under Tennis players to develop. The club has worked closely with a JTT church league in the area with over 130 kids!
Stone Creek Club and Spa
Brody McCoy, Director of 10 and Under Tennis
Stone Creek, a relatively new club, has gone to great lengths to ensure that they have the best 10 and Under Tennis instruction. The instruction their pros provide shows through in their vibrant JTT program that helped club pro Brody McCoy win USTA Louisiana Pro of the Year.
Parham Bridges Tennis Center
Julio Godreau, Director of Tennis
Parham Bridges and Mississippi Tennis Academy are one of the sections truly outstanding facilities. Led by teaching pro Julio Godreau, the facility has 12 courts with blended lines giving it the most in the state. The facility hosts four tournaments with 10U divisions per year as well as serving as host site for the Tri-County JTT Summer League.

Cary Tennis Park
Mat Cloer, Head Professional
Cary Tennis Park, with four permanent 36’ courts and eight blended line courts, provides a wide variety of tennis opportunities for children 10 and under. The Junior Team Tennis Program, for both 8 & under and 10 & under age groups is offered four times a year. The Tennis Park also provides advanced training for 10 and under players, Talent ID for 5-8 year olds and Academy I for the 8-10 year olds.
Cayce Tennis Center
Jorge Andrew, Director of Operations
Cayce Tennis Center is a state of the art facility with seven beautiful 36’ courts. Cayce also boast 12 courts with blended lines. They offer JTT, tournaments, and Play Days for 10 and Under Tennis. Director of Operations Jorge Andrew is one of the top 10 and Under Tennis pros around and was recently named President of the PTR Board of Directors.

Centennial Tennis Center
Blaine Smith, Director of Tennis
Centennial Tennis Center, led by Teaching Pro Blain Smith, is making great strides in its 10 and Under Tennis programming. They hosted a large Play Day in early March that exposed area kids to 10 and Under Tennis and JTT. Centennial continues to plan more events and is excited about being involved with 10 and Under Tennis.
