James Tart has been named the USTA Southern Manager, TennisLink, Junior Team Tennis & Kids Team Tennis.

In his role, he will oversee USTA Southern’s use of TennisLink, which supports tournament and league schedules and results, along with rankings. Junior Team Tennis provides kids eight and over with the opportunity to play with their friends in a team environment. Kids Team Tennis is a similar program for younger players. Tart began work with USTA Southern on Jan. 31, when his hire was announced by USTA Southern Executive Director & COO John Callen.

Previously, Tart was the Senior Manager of Tournaments & Player Development at USTA South Carolina in Columbia, where he oversaw all facets of adult and junior competition. Previously, he was the Junior Participation Coordinator for USTA SC. He was a tennis professional for Cliff Drysdale Tennis Management’s tennis professional advancement program at various facilities across the U.S.

Tart was born and raised in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. Tart played and served as Vice President for ECU’s Tennis on Campus team. Tart transferred to East Carolina University from Methodist University where he studied Professional Tennis Management and played varsity tennis. He now resides in Atlanta.

Additionally, Tart served on USTA Southern’s Millennial Task Force in 2018.

USTA Southern Director of Programs & Player Development Bill Ozaki remarked, “We are very happy to have James Tart join our staff.  James has done an excellent job for USTA South Carolina with tournament administration and player development.  During James’ tenure, Team South Carolina wrestled the IcyHot Southern Junior Cup away from Team Georgia for the first time in 25 years.”
