Throughout the country, more and more high school tennis coaches are adopting “no-cut” policies so that all interested students can participate on their school tennis team – all of which highlights just how outstanding this year’s honored coaches are.
In all, 14 coaches have been recognized by the USTA for their efforts in implementing this groundbreaking measure with inclusion on the 2014 No-Cut Coach All-Star Team.
The No-Cut Coach All-Star Team was established in 2013. In order to qualify for the team, coaches must be nominated by their respective section, have coached tennis for a minimum of five years, be currently registered with the USTA as a “no-cut” coach and currently be implementing that policy on their team.
“Throughout the year, these coaches play an integral role in the development of student-athletes and the success of No-Cut Tennis,” said Glenn Arrington, USTA National Manager, High School Tennis. “We applaud their efforts at encouraging players of all levels and allowing them to share in a rewarding team experience at their school.”
No-cut policies have become increasingly common in high school tennis since the program’s inception in 2006, with more than 4,000 tennis coaches currently committing to offer the policy on their teams.
