USTA Southern is introducing a new tournament: the Southern 10s Clay Court Closed, set for Oct. 27-28 at the
Huntsville Tennis Center, Huntsville, Ala.
The new event starts in 2012 and will continue annually. Because it is a team event, USTA Southern will supply six coaches.
USTA Southern will put together a round robin team event similar to Zonals and the Junior Cup. The top 36 boys and 36 girls who enter will be selected and will be waterfalled into six teams consisting of six boys and six girls. These teams will play a round robin format, where they will play each of the other five teams. Each player will play a singles and doubles match against each team.
This format will guarantee five singles and five doubles matches for each player, of course dependent on filling the six teams. Yes, you are correct! A lot of tennis in two days, but what an experience to have coaching available and this much competition in two days.
The tournament ID# is
700072612. Entry deadline is Sunday, Oct. 14.
