UPDATE: Play has concluded at the 2012 edition of the USTA Tennis Classic of Troy in Troy, Ala., and third-seeded Stephanie Dubois emerged victorious in the singles draw, taking the title over fellow Canadian and rising player seventh-seeded Sharon Fichman in a tough three-set battle, winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Dubois, an eight-year veteran of the tour, had to rely on all of her experience to reach the final, fighting off a stiff three set challenge from eighth-seeded Adriana Perez in the quarterfinals and knocking off second-seeded Edina Gallovits-Hall in the semifinals. Dubois had to raise her game to dispatch Fichman, who had not dropped a set in reaching the final, including a win over top-seeded Michelle Larcher de Brito. This marks the first title of the year for Dubois.

All was not lost for Fichman, however, as she made it a very successful week by partnering with fellow Canadian Marie-Eve Pelltier to reach the doubles final at the Troy Classic, losing in a tight two-set match to the Russian duo of Angelina Gabueva and Arina Rodionova 6-4, 6-4.

Troy University hosted the USTA Tennis Classic of Troy, Oct. 8-Oct.14 in Troy, Ala. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, located at Tine Davis Fieldhouse, 5000 Veterans Stadium Drive, Troy, Ala. 36082.
