MOBILE, ALA. - It was a special day for Charlotte, N.C., and the Southern section at the USTA League Adult 18 & Over 5.0 Nationals, with the men’s and women’s teams from that city clinching their respective championships at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The 5.0 women’s team advanced to the final after sweeping the Southern California team Irvine, Calif., 3-0. The final match came down to the wire, but Charlotte took the title after narrowly defeating the Northern California section team from San Francisco, 2-1.

On the men’s side, the 5.0 team from Charlotte fought through the Intermountain team from Denver, 2-1, to move into the championship match. In the final, Southern wild-card team prevailed in another 2-1 battle, this time over the Texas team from Dallas, to clinch the championship.

Both teams made it to the final day of competition after winning their round-robin flights contested on Friday and Saturday.
