North Carolina’s Ouellet-Pizer wins USTA National Clay Court Championships 18s singles title
Chloe Ouellet-Pizer (15, Chapel Hill, N.C.) captured the USTA Girls’ 18s National Clay Court Championships singles titles on Sunday, July 21. Ouellet-Pizer reveived a wild card entry into the 2013 US Open Junior Championships for her victory.

Ouellet-Pizer, the No. 3 seed who also reached the Girls’ 16s final at the prestigious Orange Bowl last December, defeated Terri Fleming (16, Alpharetta, Ga.), 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-1, for the Girls’ 18s singles title in Memphis, Tenn., also earning herself a wild card into a future USTA Pro Circuit women’s event.

Louisiana Family Tennis Teams advance to National Championships
Nearly 30 teams from nine different states across the Central Region took the courts at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Mo. July 26-28. Each of the teams had previously captured the NFTC title at their local tournament. The mother/daughter team of Natalie & Kennan Johnson from Baton Rouge, La. was one of the five top family tennis teams to qualify to play for a national title in the 2013 National Family Tennis Championships. The Championships will be held August 23-26 in New York City. Teams receive travel, hotel accommodations as well as tickets to see the best in the game play at the USTA/Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Rogers claims US Open Wild Card through USTA Pro Circuit events
Shelby Rogers of Daniel Island, S.C. has earned a main draw wild card into the 2013 US Open. This year, the USTA awarded one women’s singles main draw wild card into the US Open to the American who earned the most WTA Tour Ranking points at two of three $50,000 USTA Pro Circuit hard-court events in Yakima, Wash., Portland, Ore., and Lexington, Ky. Rogers earned a combined 102 points with her best two results, winning the title in Lexington July 28 and reaching the semifinals in Portland.

As a junior player, Rogers won the USTA Girls’ 18s National Championships to earn a wild card into the main draw of the 2010 US Open for her first appearance in a Grand Slam (in the either main draw or the juniors). She is currently ranked No. 143 in the world.
 
Herring reaches Fort Worth final
Lauren Herring, of Greenville, N.C., and Mia King were finalists at the $10,000 Forth Worth Pro Tennis Classic in Texas. 
Herring and King were defeated by Roxanne and Sierra Ellison 6-3, 6-4.
