Southern players and organizations are constantly making their mark in the world of tennis. Here's a list of recent awards, achievements and news in December 2017.


Southern Volunteer Among Five 'Champions'

Former USTA Southern Board of Diectortors member Jane Gamble was among the Southern recipients of the 2017 “Champions of Tennis" awards, which honors people, businesses and organizations dedicated to improving the sport and business of tennis. Tennis Industry magazine announced their seventh annual awards in the publication’s January 2018 issue. 

* Builder/Contractor of the Year: Competition Athletic Surfaces Inc., Chattanooga, Tenn.

* Municipal Tennis Facility of the Year: Cooper Creek Tennis Center, Columbus, Ga.

* Tennis Advocate of the Year: Jane Gamble, Paducah, Ky.

* National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) Organization of the Year: A’s & Aces, New Orleans, La.

* Innovative Tennis Event of the Year: Tennis Owners & Managers (TOM) Conference; Tennis Industry Association; Hilton Head Island, S.C.
