Tennis Championships Coming to Aiken

Aiken, SC- The USTA SC 18 and Over League State Championships are coming to Aiken.  Nearly 100 teams comprised of over 1,000 players will be competing at sites across the area May 24-27.  The Aiken area boasts seven teams in the championships.  The teams are based out of Fermata Club, O’Dell Weeks Tennis Center, and Riverview Park.

Teams will start arriving Friday night to enjoy a player party, and captains will check in and get critical information at the captain’s meeting.  Play starts bright and early Saturday morning as teams will be divided into four team groups within their NTRP skill division.  The winners of round robin play will face off in the semi-finals, with the finalists facing off on Monday.   O’Dell Weeks Tennis Center is the main site, but eight other sites around Aiken will be hosting matches.

Champions from each division will advance to the USTA Southern Section Championships which will be held in Asheville, NC for the NTRP 3.0 and 4.0 divisions and in Mobile, AL for the 3.5 and 4.5+ divisions.
