Men's Team from Dacula, GA Takes 3rd Place at 3.0 USA League Tennis National Championships

The 2002 USA League Tennis National Championships were kicked off this past weekend with the USTA Southern Section already capturing its first top four finish. The Men’s 3.0 team from Dacula, GA took third place at this year’s first championship event.

Dacula lost to eventual champion San Juan, Puerto Rico in the semi-final round of play before defeating Trenton, N.J., 4-1, in the match for third place.

Members of the Dacula, GA team included: Steve Argo, Thomas Barnard, Jeff Gaston, John Peat, Richard Tumlin, Mark Johnson, Rob Horton, Andy Johnson, Steven Reynolds, and Noah Ryan.

Puerto Rico from the Caribbean Section took home both the Men’s and Women’s championship titles, defeating Tampa, FL (Florida Section) and Fairfax, VA (Mid-Atlantic Section), respectively.

The USA League Tennis Program presented by Lincoln is the world’s largest recreational tennis league with 360,000 players throughout the country. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the United States Tennis Association through its 17 sectional associations.
