Pack Your Bag Right To Perfrom At Your Best

July 19, 2006 08:31 AM

Dr. Robert Heller

To feel confident, reduce worry and help perform at your best, take the time to prepare your bag properly “before” you go out to play. Adequate preparation here will provide you with the “tools” you will need to do your job well.

Check the condition of your racket strings for signs of excessive wear. You don’t want your favorite racket breaking in the middle of an important point. Even if you have a second racket, you don’t need the uncertainty about thinking, “What if the strings on this one go?” Check and replace worn grips. You don’t want to add to the challenge of holding on to the racket when it’s hot and humid and your hands are sweating.

Next, look at your sneakers. Badly worn sneakers should be replaced, as should sneaker laces. Lack of traction and/ or foot support can limit your mobility and increase the risk for injuries.

Now here are some items you might want to pack in your bag:
Extra wristbands
Extra shirts
Towel
Powder
Extra strings
Extra sneaker laces
Over grip
Small first aid kit
Water bottle and/or drinks
Snacks/power bar etc.
Hat
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Additional personal items, medicines etc.

With you tennis bag properly “loaded”, you are ready to rumble.

Until next time.
