Sports Science Guru - Who is Dr. Jim Brown?

Jim Brown, Ph.D., is the Executive Editor of the Sports Performance Journal, an electronic magazine published by Athletes' Performance, an elite athlete training facility in Phoenix and Los Angeles. Dr. Brown contributes articles on tennis performance, nutrition, training, and fitness to www.southerntennis.com twice a month.

During his 30-year teaching and coaching career, Dr. Brown served as the editor of two national newsletters and one tennis magazine. He has represented the United States Tennis Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance in clinics throughout the United States and Mexico.

Brown, who is a columnist for CBS Sportsline.com and Senior Wire, has authored, co-authored, or edited 10 books. He has written hundreds of articles on health and sports for publications such as Sports Illustrated for Women, Ivanhoe Broadcast News, Better Homes and Gardens, and The Washington Post. Tennis: Steps to Success, authored by Brown, has been used as a text by more than 100 colleges. His latest two books are Sports Talent: How to Identify and Develop Outstanding Athletes (Human Kinetics) and A Different Game: Golf After 50 (Burford Books).
