USTA Southern has uploaded Making Tennis Matter: A USTA Southern Facility Toolkit, a 28-page online publication aimed at supporting Community Tennis Associations (CTAs), facility owners, municipal leaders and grassroots advocates as they work to build more tennis courts in local communities.

The publication includes information on how to make a case for building more courts. The extensive document includes numerous case studies, tips, resources, links, infographics and other assets. Among the 13 sections are Getting Started with Your Dream Project, The Case for Tennis, Partnering with Your Park & Rec Department and Fundraising in Your Community.

The document has links to the USTA Facility Assistance grant program, a presentation aimed at community influencers and a multi-page Tennis Industry Association resource.

"After nearly two years of compiling information to assist communities with their tennis facility development and growth, the USTA Southern Community Tennis Committee is very pleased with the results of this project,” said USTA Southern Advocacy Subcommittee Chair Robin Jones. “Not only will this toolkitprove to be an important tool for USTA Southern communities, but we hope other sections in the USTA family will feel free to customize this compilation of best practices and lessons learned for their own use."

USTA Southern President and CEO Paula Hale remarked, “Recognizing that tennis growth happens in local communities, USTA Southern is committed to providing resources to grassroots programs.  This instructional kit provides another asset in the toolbox.”

The project, spearheaded by the USTA Southern Community Tennis Committee, is designed to work in conjunction with the Build It Forward initiative.
