Southern Juniors Shine at USTA Winter Nationals

January 3, 2008 04:44 PM

The USTA Winter Nationals took place December 27, 2007- January 1, 2008 throughout Arizona with an excellent showing from several Southern junior stars.

In doubles, the powerful duo of North Carolinian Lauren Herring and Atlanta’s Grace Min won their second gold ball of 2007 in the Girls 18’s division. Sarah Guzick took third place in that division with her partner. Winning the gold ball in the Girls 16’s, was the team of Lauren Mira and Alex Clay of Atlanta, Ga. Ryan Noble and Ian Chadwell teamed together to win silver in the Boys 18’s doubles.

There was just as much success in the singles division as well. Keri Wong was the finalist in the Girls 18’s while Kate Fuller of Georgia took fourth place in Girls 16’s. Fuller was honored with the Sportsmanship Award in that division as well. In Boys 14’s, Georgia’s Nathan Pasha didn’t drop a single set on his way to winning the gold ball.
