Chattanooga’s Susannah Cook Named USTA Southern Coach for Nike Junior Tour Masters Event

The USTA Southern Section announced today that Susannah Cook was named as the USTA Southern coach for the 2007 Nike Junior Tour Masters event to be held at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., on September 28-30, 2007.

Cook is a PTR certified tennis professional and currently serves as the assistant professional for the McCallie Junior Academy in Chattanooga, Tenn. Cook has served as the coach for the USTA Southern Junior Davis Cup/Fed and the USTA National 12s Zone Team Championships. She is currently a member of the USTA Cardio Tennis and Jr. Team Tennis committee.

Cook is a graduate of Berry College in Rome, Ga., where she received a B.A. in Communication. She was a member of the nationally ranked tennis team at Berry College and named to the All-TranSouth Conference Team in both singles and doubles.

The Nike Junior Tour (NJT) is a worldwide series of junior tournaments sponsored by Nike. NJT tournaments are for boys and girls 12’s and 14’s. Twenty-one participating countries hold qualifying events that lead to a National Masters. NJT National Masters winners then compete at the International Masters. John Morson of Birmingham, Ala., Kyle Montrel of East Point, Ga., Mia King of Hendersonville, N.C., and Meleanna McCutcheon of Decatur, Ala., have been selected to represent the USTA Southern Section in the Nike Junior Tour event.
