Final Results For Team Southern in USTA National Team Championships
USTA Southern’s Boys and Girls 16 Intersectional team brought the championship back to Southern with a hard fought 4-3 victory over top seeded USTA Southern California in the finals. Bo Seal from Chattanooga, TN and Ryan Noble from Fayetteville, NC clinched the title with a 7-5 in the third win in boys doubles. Other team members were Garrett Brasseaux from New Orleans, LA; Ian Chadwell from Franklin, TN; Kayla Duncan from Winston-Salem, NC; Kate Fuller from Alpharetta, GA; Lauren Herring from Greenville, NC and Grace Min from Lawrenceville, GA. Cannon Campbell, owner/director of the Windward Lake Club and Windward Lake Junior Tennis Academy, served as the coach for Team Southern.
Team Southern finished second in both the USTA Boys and Girls National Team Championships for 18 and unders. USTA Southern California defeated Team Southern 4-3 in the USTA Boys National Team Championships. Team members were: Houston Barrick from Brentwood, TN; Drake Bernstein from Winder, GA; Devin Britton from Jackson, MS; Tyler Davis from Nashville, TN; Ryan Lipman from Nashville, TN; Eric Quigley from Peewee Valley, KY; Bo Seal from Chattanooga, TN. University of Alabama men’s coach Billy Pate served as the coach for Team Southern.
USTA Eastern edged Team Southern in the finals of the USTA Girls National Team Championships. Team members were: Claire Bartlett from Chattanooga, TN; Kristi Boxx from Grenada, MS; Courtney McLane from Lawrenceville, GA; Natalie Pluskota from Sharpsburg, GA; Kathryn Talbert from Mooresville, NC; Keri Wong from Jackson, MS; Reka Zsilinszka from Fayetteville, NC. Sue Bartlett, GPS women’s coach, served as the coach for Team Southern.
Results from USTA National Hard Court Championships
Grace Min from Lawrenceville, GA won the singles and doubles titles at the USTA Girls 14 Hard Courts to lead the results of Team Southern players at the USTA National Hard Court Championships. Whitney Kay from Alpharetta, GA partnered with Min in the doubles and was runner-up to Min in singles. Jamie Hampton from Auburn, AL and Melanie Oudin from Marietta, GA earned a wild card into the main draw of the US Open Women’s Doubles by virtue of their victory in the USTA Girls 18 Hard Court Championships. Oudin also finished third in singles. Tennys Sandgren from Gallatin, TN won the USTA Boys 16 National Hard Courts over Bo Seal from Chattanooga, TN. Seal and Ryan Noble from Fayetteville, NC were runner-ups in doubles. Strong Kirchheimer from Cary, NC finished 3rd in the Boys 12 Hard Courts. Jarmere Jenkins from College Park, GA finished third in Boys 18 doubles and ReeRee Li from Charlotte, NC was 2nd in Girls 12 Doubles.
