To help commemorate the legacy of humanitarian and tennis great Arthur Ashe, USTA/NJTL sponsors an annual essay contest asking entrants to answer in 300 words or less “Why is Arthur Ashe a legend?” The contest was opened to boys and girls who are currently participating in a program sponsored by their local USTA NJTL Chapter and after sifting through hundreds of essays the winners have been selected. Essay contest winners, along with a parent or guardian, will enjoy a trip to New York Aug. 24-26 and will be guests at the 2007 Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day presented by Hess at the US Open on August 25.
