Southern Sweeps 12 Zonals in Nashville

The National 12 Zonals was just completed Sunday with Southern teams once again coming out on top in each of the boys and girls divisions. Two Southern teams played off for the girls championships. Southern E, coached by Jimbo Hobson defeated Southern D coached by Bill Riddle. This was an extremely hard fought win with Southern E coming back after dropping the doubles point, to win 4-3. The results are as follows:

Olivia King (So. D) def Caroline Fruge (So. E) 7-6, 6-1

Caroline Brinson (So. E) def Caroline Nelson (So. D) 6-1, 6-3

Alexa Breeland (So. E) Laura Patterson (So. D) 6-4, 6-2

Ann Hay (So. E) def Oroma Womeodu (So. D) 6-4, 6-4

Campbell/Daniell (So. D) def King/Fruge (So. E) 8-2

Brinson/Greene (So. E) def Nelson/King (So. D) 8-2

Womeodu/Nelson (So. D) def Breeland/Hay (So. E) 9-7

The Southern E girls earned their way into the Championships by means of a tie break over Southern A, coached by James Harrell. Congratulations to all the girls.

The Southern F boys took on Mid Atlantic A in the boy’s championships, with Southern, coached by Chad Oxendine winning another close match 4-3. Southern won the doubles point which turned out to big a huge point. The individual results of this match are as follows:
