2006 Mills-Redgrave Team Selected

Eighteen Southern Standouts have been selected to represent the USTA Southern Section at the 2006 Mills Redgrave Challenge. First contested in 1994, the Mills-Redgrave Challenge is a fun, yet highly competitive, team competition between the Southern and Florida sections. It is played in honor of Dr. Alfred Mills, a longtime promoter of junior tennis in the Florida Section, and DeWitt Redgrave III, former executive director of the Southern Section.

The teams are comprised of the top three ranked boys and girls in the 14 and under, 16 and under and 18 and under divisions. They play against their counterparts from the USTA Florida section within the same age group.

The USTA Southern Section’s team will be traveling to the Bardmoor Golf and Tennis Club in Largo, Florida the weekend of October 13-15th for the match up. The USTA Southern Section has won the Challenge 10 of the last 12 years. Players defending the USTA Southern title in the 2006 Challenge includes:

Boy’s 18: Will Guzick, Kevin King, Eric Quigley

Boy’s 16: Bo Seal, Richard Doverspike, Tennys Sandgren

Boy’s 14: Nathan Pasha, Lewis Butler, Garrett Brasseaux

Girl’s 18: Claire Bartlett, Laurianne Henry, Jennifer Meredith

Girl’s 16: Kathryn Talbert, Ebie Wilson, Kayla Duncan

Girl’s 14: Kate Fuller, Whitney Kay, Mary Angela Martin

The coaches for the event will be Sue Bartlett, Steve Pace, and Scott Handback. The team and coaches are looking forward to a very competitive and fun weekend in Florida.
