U.S. and British Teams Announced for Maureen Connolly Challenge Trophy

The United States and Great Britain teams have been finalized for the 32nd annual Maureen Connolly Challenge Trophy by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and The Lawn Tennis Association of Great Britain (LTA). The event alternates countries each year and in 2005 the event will be held at the beautiful and prestigious Coral Beach & Tennis Club in Bermuda from September 29 -October 1, 2005.

The Maureen Connolly Challenge Trophy match features five of the top girls from the United States and Great Britain who are 14 and 16 years of age. They will play a total of eleven matches over three days. The United States leads the competition in victories: 19-11.

The United States team members are;
1. Sarah Guzick – Greer, South Carolina
2. Joanna Mather – Duluth, Georgia
3. Nelly Redeva – Costa Mesa, California
4. Daisha Hill Hurtado – Albuquerque, New Mexico
5. Kathryn Talbert – Mooresville, North Carolina

The Great Britain team members are:
1. Naomi Broady
2. Naomi Cavaday
3. Stephanie Cornish
4. Hannah James
5. Caitlin Steel

The captain of the United States team is Robin White and the British team captains are: Kate Warne-Holland and James Davidson.

This is one of the many events sponsored by the Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation to further promote junior tennis development.
