USTA Southern Section Points Per Round Ranking System Information

November 14, 2003 12:36 PM

Confused about the USTA Southern Section's new Points Per Round Ranking System? The documents below should help answer some of your questions.

The following changes took effect on January 1, 2005:

· Play in the next upper age division will also count in a player's lower age division. For example, a player who is age eligible in 12's, plays in a 14's tournament and earns points. Those same points will also go on the player's 12's record.

· The point charts for Southern level 2, 4 and 5 tournaments have changed. The winner of a Southern level 2 event will earn 440 points, the winner of a Southern level 4 event will earn 165 points and the winner of a Southern level 5 event will earn 44 points.

· The selections for all Southern level 3 events will be determined from the current Southern standings after the entry deadline. Up to 1/8 (eight) of the draw will come from the lower age group and up to 56 players from the age group of the event for draws of 64. For 32 draw events, up to 1/8 (four) of the draw will come from the lower age group and up to 28 players from the age group of the event.

· There are new point charts for USTA National standings/rankings and those may be found at usta.com.

If you have any questions on any of these changes, please email the USTA Southern Section Staff at jrcomp@sta.usta.com or Mary Lou Hambrick at MLHambrick@insightbb.com.
