July 11, 2003 02:59 PM

In the closest final in many years, Southern Cal squeaked out the final doubles match to edge Team Southern, by a score of 5-4 in the finals of the 2003 USTA Intersectional Team Championships in Shreveport, Louisiana at the Pierremont Oaks Tennis Club.

Coach Brian Devilliers from Atlanta, GA said that, "Team Southern gave a great effort the entire week and that their team camaraderie and spirit was without peer both on and off the court."

Team Southern was comprised of the following players: Meg Fanjoy from Statesville, NC; Link Leskosky from Macon, GA; Amanda McDowell from Atlanta, GA; Catherine Newman from Greensboro, NC; Taylor Fogelman from New Orleans, LA; Andy Orban from Fayetteville, NC; Andrew Stubbs from Hilton Head, SC; Josh Varela from Athens, GA.

Congratulations to the team on their great effort as they represented the USTA Southern Section. Good luck to our team and all of our players at the upcoming USTA Super National Clay Courts.
