Georgia Tech All-American Kristi Miller has been named the 2006 ITA National Player to Watch, as announced at the NCAA Championships in Palo Alto, Calif. late Monday evening. As the first All-American in school history, Miller amassed a record-breaking 42 singles wins a season ago while advancing to the Round of 16 at the 2005 NCAA Singles Championships as one of the top-16 national seeds. She was named the ITA South Region Rookie of the Year for her play in 2005 after leading Tech to its first Round of 16 berth in the NCAA Team Championships.

She earned her second All-America honor earlier this month when she was named the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2006 NCAA Singles Championships, which begins Wednesday at the Taube Tennis Complex on the campus of Stanford University.

Miller helped Tech to back-to-back appearances in the Round of 16 of the NCAA Team Championships, as well as back-to-back ACC Championships after the program had never finished higher than fourth in the conference prior to her arrival on the Flats in 2005.

A doubles participant in the 2005 U.S. Open, Miller is aiming for her first singles berth as a wildcard in the upcoming tournament, as the winner of the 2006 NCAA Singles Championships has a chance of being selected to the Grand Slam Event.

Brackets for the singles and doubles championship, which Miller will be teaming with Lyndsay Shosho to compete in, will be announced late Tuesday.
