Mississippi State’s women’s tennis team kicks off the 2005 fall season this weekend, Sept. 16-18 at the Ole Miss Fall Classic in Oxford, Miss. The 10-team event will start Friday morning and run thru Sunday at Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center on the Ole Miss campus.
The field includes players from Arkansas, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Ole Miss, Samford, Southern Mississippi, South Alabama, Troy and Tennessee Tech.
MSU’s Anastasia Kugakolova, who is ranked 89th in the country is the second seed overall in singles and will play in the Red Draw. Sophomore Renee Joseph is the top seed in the White Draw. Freshman Daniela Juskova will also compete in the White Draw as the No. 3 seed. Sophomore Polina Kokoulina is seeded fifth in the Blue Draw. Elna de VIlliers and Tatiana Feit will compete in the Silver Draw.
In doubles, the duo of Kugakolova and Joseph is the No. 2 seed in the event. They teamed up together last fall, finishing with a record of 5-2. MState’s team of Juskova and Martina Banikova will play in the Blue Draw.
After this weekend’s competition, the Lady Bulldogs will trek to Tuscaloosa, Ala on Oct.7-9 to compete in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic.
