MSU Players Boast Respective ITA Rankings

Four Mississippi State men's tennis players were a part of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason national rankings released this week. Sophomores Phillip Frayssinoux and Pierre Mouillon are ranked 84th and 121st, respectively, in singles, while the doubles team of Jose-Carlos Pinto and Florent Girod is ranked 37th.

A native of Plaisir, France, Frayssinoux returns for his second season with the Bulldogs. In his debut at MSU last spring, Frayssinoux posted a 12-9 overall record and a 9-8 mark against Southeastern Conference competition.

Mouillon enters the 2005-06 season coming off of an impressive showing last spring. The Le Perreux, France, product finished last season with a 14-7 overall record and led the team with an SEC record of 9-2. Mouillon reeled off 10 consecutive vicotories last spring and upended three ranked players in dual matches.

Despite no prior history as a doubles team, Pinto and Girod have each had success playing doubles in their own regards. Last season, Pinto and former Bulldog Luiz Carvalho were ranked as high as 10th in the nation in doubles.
In 2003-04, Girod and former all-American Romain Ambert reached 32nd in the national doubles rankings.

The Bulldogs will open their fall tournament schedule Sept. 16-18 at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
