The United States had a banner year in international team competition in 2014, sweeping both the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas titles for the second time in the last seven years.

Fifteen-year-old CiCi Bellis, from Atherton, Calif., 16-year-old Tornado Alicia Black, from Boca Raton, Fla., and 15-year-old Sofia Kenin, from Pembroke Pines, Fla., carried the U.S. to its third overall Junior Fed Cup title, defeating Slovakia for the championship and giving the U.S. girls their third overall title, having also won championships in 2008 and 2012.

For the boys, 16-year-old Michael Mmoh of Temple Hills, Md., 16-year-old William Blumberg of Greenwich, Conn., and 15-year-old Gianni Ross of Burr Ridge, Ill., defeated Korea in the final to claim the Junior Davis Cup crown. It was also the third overall win for the American boys, who won the event in 1999 and 2008.

Both the U.S. girls' and boys' teams dominated the opposition, going undefeated in all of their singles and doubles matches during the competition, which was held Sept. 23-28 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Since the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup finals were first held in 1985, some of the biggest names  in American tennis have participated in the event, with Lindsay Davenport, Jim Courier, Andy Roddick and James Blake among the players who have represented the U.S. in international team competition. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic also competed for their countries during their junior careers.
