Second-seed Kevin Anderson of South Africa won the Baton Rouge Pro Tennis Classic, a $50,000 tournament running April 12-18 at the Lamar Tennis Center. Anderson downed Tobias Kamke of Germany 6-7(7), 7-6(7), 6-1 in the final.
Donald Young of Atlanta advanced to the second round. Two Southerners were stymied in the first round. Longtime ATP player Bobby Reynolds, of Acworth, Ga., lost to Cecil Mamit 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. NCAA Division I singles champion Devin Britton, of Brandon, Miss., fell to Ryan Sweeting 6-2, 6-2.
