Troy Hosts USTA Pro Circuit Event

Troy University's Lunsford Tennis Center in Troy, Ala. is the site of the $50,000 USTA Tennis Classic of Troy Oct. 5-11.

Women pro players from around the globe will be playing in the USTA Pro Circuit tournament.

Grace Min of Lawrenceville, Ga. defeated Ana-Clara Duarte of Brazil 6-3, 6-4 to advance in qualifying. Another Southern player, Jamie Hampton, of Enterprise, Ala. eliminated well-known American pro Laura Granville 6-4, 6-2.

Both players hope to join Lindsay Lee-Waters, of Dunwoody, Ga., and NCAA Division I singles champion Mallory Cecil, of Spartanburg, S.C., in the main draw.
