Team Of The Week: Louisiana 3.0 Men

September 29, 2009 10:50 AM

Here's a report from one of the Southern teams competing for a USTA League National Championship. They will be playing Oct. 9-11, Tuscon, Ariz.

Baton Rouge Attack 3.0 Men
Baton Rouge, La.

By Captain Jimmy Betz

In an effort to prepare for the National Championship our team signed up for a city league here in Baton Rouge at the 3.5 level. I believe it has been both challenging and beneficial for our team playing at a higher level as we are better prepared for the national tournament.

We are looking forward to meeting the other teams who have also earned a spot in the National Championship. We are also looking forward to spending some time with our friends and family who are joining us in Tuscon, Ariz. Most of all we can't wait to take some time off of work!

The funny thing about our team is that we almost weren't one! Our team was formed three days before the cut off date for the Men’s 3.0 league. We never took ourselves very seriously on or off the court. Tennis was always a fun hobby and good exercise, and that light-hearted approach has made this season one of the most memorable yet.
