Williams Wins Palmetto Pro Open Doubles

Caitlyn Williams, of Knoxville, Tenn., won the doubles crown in the Palmetto Pro Open in Sumter, S.C. Sunday when she teamed up with Allie Will to defeat Kyle S. McPhillips and Mani Inque 6-4, 6-4.

Top-seed Petra Rampre of Slovakia won the singles with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Romanian Anda Perianu in the USTA Pro Circuit event.

Lauren Herring of Greenville, N.C. advanced to the quarterfinals but was defeated by eight-seed Chieh-Yu Hsu. Herring downed fourth-seed Paula Zabala of Columbia in the first round 6-3, 6-3.

Williams won the Girls’ 16s USTA National Open earlier this year.
