Pluskota Gets To Doubles Final In Hilton Head Pro Circuit Tournament

The doubles team of Natalie Pluskota of Sharpsburg, Ga. and Caitlin Whoriskey made it to the final round of the Head/Tail Activewear Women’s $10K tournament in Hilton Head, S.C. last week. Their journey included defeating Allie Will/Caitlyn Williams 7-6, 6-4, Maria Fernanda Alves/Nicola Slater 4-6, 6-1, [10-7] and Chelsea Orr/Anda Perianu 6-1, 6-3. In the finals they faced Jacqueline Cako/Alison Riske and lost 6-3, 3-6, [10-6].

Four advanced to the second round. Grace Min of Lawrenceville, Ga. defeated Olivia Janowicz 7-5, 6-4 in the first round and then lost to Petra Rampre 6-1, 6-0 in the second round. Alexandra Anghelscu of Norcross, Ga. defeated Stephanie Roy 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round and then lost to Jessica Pegula 6-4, 6-0 in the second round. Kate Fuller of Suwannee, Ga. defeated Caryssa L. Peretz 6-2, 6-3 in the first round and then lost to Alison Riske 6-1, 6-1 in the second round. Lauren Herring of Greenville, N.C. retired to Tarakaa 6-2, 5-7, 2-2 in the first round.

The USTA Pro Circuit event.was played at the Van der Meer Tennis Center and ran through Sunday, June 7.

Other Southerners in the qualifying draw included Claire Bartlett, Alexandra Clay, Julia Courter, Catherine Harrison, Amanda Marrow, Ashley Murdock, Natalie Pluskota, Caroline Price, Kaitlin Ray, Michele Stanford, Breanne C. Smutko, Katherine White and Caitlyn Williams, winner of the doubles crown at last week’s Palmetto Pro Open in Sumter, S.C.
