USTA Mississippi staff members participated in bringing tennis to area youth at the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital “Spring Fling" in late April.
Russell Dendy (also a USTA Southern tennis service representative), Jenny Markow and Ann Brady assisted patients enjoy the spring afternoon by “Batting Balls for Blair Batson” using mini nets and racquets with foam balls. Johnny McGinn, USTA Mississippi Wheelchair Committee Chairman was great in showing the kids how to hit the tennis ball over the net. Karen Skeen also assisted in organizing the event.
Every child received a wrist band and visor. The patients, nurses and administrators all enjoyed the day. This is one of several projects planned at the Children’s Hospital and at the Methodist Rehabilitation Center in connection with a grant received from the USTA.
