Cary Receives USTA Grant For QuickStart Courts

Cary Tennis Park in North Carolina has received a $8,300 grant to cover the conversion of one of its tennis courts to four permenant QuickStart courts.

USTA Director, Community Tennis Development Virgil Christain informed Sean Ferreira of the town of Cary that the grant would cover costs of up to $8,300 to install the 36' courts.

"A goal of the USTA is to provide communities access to safe, appealing and functional tennis environments and we are happy to again partner with Cary Tennis Park to achieve this goal in Cary, NC. The essence of this initiative is to assist communities leverage their tennis facilities to promote lifelong healthy activity and improve their programming by advancing the latest tennis innovations for all program types," wrote Christian in a letter. "Thank you for efforts to promote the game of tennis in your community and the commitment to keep the facility open to the public and provide programs for the next 5 years."

QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis as a part of the Jr. Team Tennis program. QuickStart is designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. It is divided into two different levels -- ages 8 and under and ages 10 and under. The 36' courts for kids 8-and-under. Kids 10-and-under play on 60' courts.
