USTA Names 2008 U.S. Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Teams

The USTA has announced the nine players who will represent the United States and compete in the 2008 Paralympic Games, Sept. 6-17, in Beijing, China. The U.S. will be one of 34 countries represented among the 112 wheelchair tennis competitors vying for gold in the men’s, women’s and Quad events.

U.S. head coach, Dan James announced the men’s team which will be lead by: Lee Hinson of Jacksonville, FL, Paul Moran of Northfield, IL, Jon Rydberg of Oakdale, MN and Steve Welch of Southlake, TX. The Women’s team will feature: Beth Arnoult of Paia, Hawaii and Kaitlyn Verfurth of Rancho Cucmamonga, CA . The Quad team will be: Nick Taylor of Wichita, KA and David Wagner of Hillsboro, OR. The team selection was based on ITF World Rankings from May 19, 2008.

Dan James of Oakdale, MN will be joined by assistant Jason Hartnett of Irvine, CA

The team will be at training camp in August. There will be updates from Beijing once competition begins and we hope to update that for you.
