Ditty Finishes Strong Year With San Diego Final

November 17, 2008 07:00 AM
Julie Ditty finished a strong 2008 year on the USTA Pro Circuit with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 loss to her doubles partner Edina Gallovits in the $50,000 Santa Luz Open in San Diego, Calif.

Ditty also came up on the short end to Gallovits in the final of the $50,000 USTA Women’s Professional Tennis Tournament in Auburn, Ala. earlier this month.

Ditty, of Ashland, Ky., moved into the record books earlier this year when she won her 31th and 32nd titles at the 2008 Coleman Vision Tennis Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., placing her at the summit for career USTA Pro Circuit titles. Ditty surpassed Paul Goldstein and Nana Smith (nee Miyagi), who both have 30 USTA Pro Circuit titles. “I knew before I went to Albuquerque that I could break the record,” Ditty, said. “It is a good feeling, especially being from the U.S. I just broke the Top 100, too.”
