Chanda Rubin, former top 10 WTA Tour player from Lafayette, La., was presented with the Eugene L. Scott Renaissance Award at the 82nd National Public Parks Tennis Championships held in New Orleans, La. in July. Ken McAllister, President National Public Parks Tennis Association, who presented the award, said, "In my 50 years as a player, coach and professional, I have seen very few great athletes like Chanda who also represent the best in role models for our younger players. She is very deserving of the prestige of the Eugene L. Scott Renaissance Award."

The Eugene L. Scott Renaissance Award is presented by the National Public Parks Tennis Association and the USTA in honor of Gene Scott, who demonstrated supporting the ideals of public parks tennis. Scott was also inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2008. The Eugene L. Scott Renaissance Award was presented to Polly Scott in 2006 in his memory and to Chris Evert in 2007.
