Lake Charles Racquet Club Celebrates Grand Opening with Bryan Brothers

March 27, 2008 02:57 PM

On April 18th and 19th, the Lake Charles Racquet Club will invite the community and surrounding areas to see its new facility by hosting one of the biggest tennis events ever to take place in southwest Louisiana. The world’s number one doubles team, Bob and Mike Bryan, will be on site to share their time and talent as Lake Charles celebrates the club's reconstruction since Hurricane Rita. The Bryans will play a tennis exhibition before a VIP party on Friday, April 18th and return Saturday morning to conduct a free kid’s clinic.

General Admission is $25 and will give you access to temporary bleachers set up on Court 5 for viewing of the exhibition to be played on Court 4. These tickets will not allow access to the Clubhouse, but will have access to concessions. VIP tickets are $85 for members and $125 for non-members. These tickets will provide access to the banquet room on the second floor, all porches overlooking Court 4 and VIP parking. Refreshments will be provided as well as a meet and greet opportunity with the Bryans. Access to that evening’s reception will also be included. Capacity at each level is limited so order your tickets today by going online at www.etix.com or by calling etix at 800-514-3849.

Proceeds from the event will be shared by Family and Youth Counseling and the Racquet Club.

Weekend activities include:

•Recreational Coaches Workshop on Friday, April 18th, from 9am to 3:30pm at the racquet club, co-sponsored by the newly reorganized Lake Area CTA and Lake Charles Parks and Recreation.

•USTA membership promotion during the event in the form of a USTA display table conspicuously placed and manned.

•Promotion of USTA Adult Leagues, Tri-Level Leagues, and Flex Leagues by area CTA board, USTA Louisiana staff and myself.

•A youth clinic and parent orientation on Saturday, April 19th, from 9am to noon (with the Bryan brothers), promoting the QuickStart format and Junior Team Tennis as the accompanying USTA flagship program.

•A Cardio Tennis clinic running concurrently with the youth clinic for the attending adults - mucho music.
