The Tennis Channel to Cover Area Tennis Event

July 21, 2007 02:27 PM

American’s 24/7 tennis network is coming to film a highlights show at the 2007 USTA League presented by CHRYSLER Southern Section Championships, which are being held on July 20 - 29 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.

The Tennis Channel’s “Inside Tennis With The Koz” host Dave “Koz” Kozlowski will be brining his TV crew to film highlights of the event cited as “The largest tennis tournament in the world”. Over 2,000 players on 200 teams from nine states will be competing for USTA Southern Sectional Titles

The teams, which represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments and organizations, have finished at the top of their local leagues and are now vying for a chance to represent the USTA Southern Section at the USTA League presented by CHRYSLER National Championships in Tucson, Ariz., Las Vegas, Nev., and Indian Wells, Calif.

Matches will be played at four sites in the Mobile area, including the Mobile Tennis Center, Oakwood Country Club, Mirror Lake Tennis Center, and Country Club of Mobile. The Mobile Tennis Center is the official Tournament headquarters.

The highlights segment, to be aired on the award winning 30-minute magazine style show, will feature match play from singles and doubles along with interviews from players, sponsors and tournament officials.

“We are very happy to have our event broadcast nationally and offer the country a chance to see what kind of tennis we are bringing into our community. This is very thrilling for the players and everyone involved with the tournament,” explained Scott Novak, Director of Tennis at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The four-year old cable network is currently broadcast into over 20-million homes throughout the United States and is available in 14 of 15 major TV American markets -in addition to a nation-wide supplement audience on DISH Network and a soon-to-be additional 16 million viewership with DirecTV.

“It is always exciting to travel the USTA community tennis trail and bring our viewers a new tennis venue. The Mobile, AL area is a very tennis supportive community. They are a major player in American tennis,” stated The Koz, 2001 USTA Tennis Broadcaster of the Year.
